The Kevin Fitzsimmons Quintet

Jazz singer/songwriter/bandleader, Kevin Fitzsimmons, and his band are known for their sassy new takes on standards by likes of Mercer, Jobim, Ellington, Legrand, Porter, Gershwin, delivered with sophistication and verve. Interspersed with formidable jazz versions of classic pop recordings (Beatles, Sam Cooke, Sting, Billy Preston, Paul Weller), periodic instrumentals and originals, has garnered them fans far & wide.

Kevin, long a fan of Mel Torme & Mark Murphy, is one of most individual male jazz voices to emerge on the UK jazz scene in recent times. Lauded by jazz critics for his naturally swinging vocals, elastic phrasing and engaging, highly personable stage presence. He’s hosted by the premier London jazz clubs (Ronnie Scotts’, The 606, Pizza Express Jazz Club), has several jazz festival appearances under his belt, sung at iconic Birdland Jazz Club, NYC, headlined a 400 seat Athens concert backed by pioneers of Greek jazz scene, The Dimitris Kalantzis Quartet.  His album ‘Show Me The Way’ was released to considerable critical acclaim, one of his live concerts was broadcast on Jazz FM, he’s enjoyed sell-outs with his band at venues around the UK including several times at Ronnie Scott’s and appeared with his band on E4′s Made In Chelsea.

His distinctive vocals have been used by global brands like Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and for several TV and radio commercials – including a TV advert with Hollywood film star Naomi Watts. He’s also entertained royalty twice and been booked by many celebrities to sing at their own private events. A natural lyricist, he also writes in collaboration with musicians, most notably the Jools Holland saxophonist Derek Nash. In addition, running parallel to his career as a jazz artist on the UK jazz scene, he has received rave reviews as lead vocalist of touring Big Band concert, ‘Sinatra Sequins & Swing: The Capitol Years Live!’, a celebration of Sinatra’s golden years on the Capitol Records label.
Furthermore, Kevin’s musicians - described by eminent Jazzwise Magazine in review of his album as “the cream of UK straight-ahead jazz musicians, solid and groove aplenty” – deliver a performance of considerable virtuosity. They are lauded jazz players in their own right on the UK jazz scene and regularly play venues like world renowned Ronnie Scotts’ Jazz Club.
